Premium Soft Addition-Cure Mould-Making Rubber for Professional Candle and Soap Mould Applications

Wacker CENUSIL® M 810 A/B (“Pink 10”) is a pourable, addition-cure (platinum-cure) RTV-2 mould-making silicone rubber that vulcanises shrink-free at room temperature. The two-component product is mixed 1:1 by weight, is free-flowing with excellent self-deaeration and reaches a soft hardness of Shore A 10. The pink final colour (we colour the A component pink) makes visual mixing control easy. With approximately 40 minutes pot life and a tack-free cure time of 4 hours, the material is suited to moulds where a long service life and a high number of castings are desired, with good resistance to more aggressive reproduction materials such as epoxy, polyurethane and polyester.

    Key Benefits

    • Soft Shore A 10 – extremely supple rubber that demoulds fragile objects such as candles and soaps without damage.
    • Free-flowing (3,000 mPa·s mixed) – flows easily around fine detail and largely self-deaerates.
    • Shrink-free (< 0.1 % shrinkage) – addition cure without chemical shrinkage for dimensionally accurate castings.
    • High tear propagation resistance (15 N/mm) – withstands repeated demoulding of models with undercuts.
    • High tensile strength (3.5 N/mm²) and elongation at break (600 %) – strong and stretchable rubber with long mould life.
    • 40 minutes pot life – ample working time for careful pouring and deaeration.

    Typical Applications

    • Candle moulds for wax and paraffin
    • Soap moulds and cast soap
    • Reproduction moulds for plaster and concrete stucco
    • Moulds for epoxy, polyurethane and polyester casting resins
    • Glove moulds and one-piece skin moulds with strong undercuts
    • Model making, ornaments and design prototypes

    Processing

    1. First stir component A and component B separately and thoroughly.
    2. Mix A and B by weight in a 1:1 ratio (100:100). Use only A and B components with the same batch number.
    3. Mix slowly and carefully in a figure-8 motion to limit air entrapment.
    4. Preferably vacuum-degas the mixture immediately after mixing to remove air bubbles.
    5. Pour within the pot life of approximately 40 minutes.
    6. Allow to cure for approximately 4 hours at room temperature. A slight increase in temperature accelerates curing; note that air bubbles then have less time to escape.

If you wish to lower the hardness, you can add silicone oil. The disadvantage of oil is that it does not cross-link and can sweat out over time (years), causing a greasy layer and shrinkage. If you wish to apply the silicone with a spatula instead of pouring, add Silicone Thixo A (note: not Silicone Thixo C).

⚠️ Caution: inhibition with addition-cure silicones
These addition-cure silicones can be poisoned (inhibited) by sulphur, nitrogen, amino compounds and metal salts, causing the cure to fail. These substances occur among others in many latex gloves, some plasticines, paints and adhesives, condensation silicones, 1-component silicone sealant, natural rubbers and 3D-printing material (especially stereolithography). If you are unsure whether your materials (including gloves, spatulas and cups) contain these substances, first carry out a small test or apply a protective layer of polyvinyl alcohol.
