    Translucent addition-cure silicone Shore A 10 for skin effects, masks and prosthetics

    Wacker ELASTOSIL® FX 10 A/B is a platinum-cure (addition-cure) two-component silicone rubber for realistic skin effects in film, television and theatre. You mix 1:1 by weight. The translucent material has a viscosity of 5,000 mPa·s, a hardness of Shore A 10 and 8-12 minutes pot life, and it is cured in about 45 minutes at 23 °C. With the FX additives you adapt the working time, cure and consistency to your project.

    ⚠️ Skin contact and food contact: what Wacker states

    Wacker expects no irritation or sensitisation on contact with intact skin (Statement on Compatibility to Skin). This is an expectation based on ISO 10993 tests on comparable addition-cure silicones, not a test on this product itself and not a certification. The condition is that your application falls within the WACKER SILICONES HEALTH CARE POLICY: in general no contact with genital mucous membranes, no applications longer than 30 days, and contraceptive or reproductive devices only after case-by-case assessment.

    For food contact, Wacker declares conformity with EC 1935/2004 and BfR XV Silicones. For the United States, a food contact statement is available on request. As the processor you remain responsible for the end product: weighing and mixing correctly, curing fully and assessing the application yourself. We will send you Wacker's statements on request.

    Processing

    1. Stir component A and component B separately and thoroughly.
    2. Weigh A and B in a 1:1 ratio by weight and mix carefully until homogeneous.
    3. Use the mixture within 8-12 minutes (23 °C). If you need more time, use FX Slow; for a faster cure use FX Fast.
    4. To apply the material to vertical surfaces, make it non-slump with FX Thixo. FX Softener makes it softer and tackier.
    5. Let it cure: at 23 °C the material is cured in about 45 minutes.

    ⚠️ Inhibition with addition-cure silicones

    Curing can be inhibited by sulphur, tin compounds and latex gloves, among other things. These are also found in sulphur-containing clay and condensation-cure silicones. Use nitrile or vinyl gloves and, if in doubt, run a small test first.

    Points to note

    • ✓ Store the components between 5 °C and 30 °C in the tightly closed original packaging.
    • ✓ The expiry date of each batch is on the label. After that date the product is not automatically unusable, but check its properties before use.
    • ✓ Work cleanly and do not use latex gloves.
