Very soft silicone gel for realistic skin effects
Wacker ELASTOSIL® FX Gel 30 A/B is a pourable, addition-cure (platinum) RTV-2 silicone gel that cures at room temperature. Wacker developed the FX range for realistic skin effects in film, television and theatre. FX Gel 30 is the softest pourable grade in the range: Shore 00-30, with an elongation at break of more than 900 %. You mix 1:1 by weight and have a pot life of 8 to 12 minutes at 23 °C. After around 45 minutes you can demould. The gel is translucent, flows very well and is self-degassing.
⚠️ What Wacker states about skin and food contact
Wacker issues a Statement on Compatibility to Skin for ELASTOSIL® FX Gel 30 A/B (4 August 2020). No toxicological tests have been carried out on this product itself. Based on tests to ISO 10993 on comparable addition-cure silicones, Wacker does not expect irritation or sensitisation on contact with intact skin. This is an expectation based on analogy, not a test report on this product and not a certification. The condition is that your application falls within the WACKER SILICONES HEALTH CARE POLICY (September 2019). This generally excludes contact with genital mucous membranes and applications lasting more than 30 days. If you are working on such a product, please contact us first.
For food contact, Wacker's Regulatory Product Information (v1.8, 17-07-2026) declares conformity with, among others, EC 1935/2004 and BfR Recommendation XV Silicones. For the United States a food contact statement is available on request. As the processor you remain responsible for the finished product: correct weighing and mixing, full cure and your own assessment of the application. We will send the statements on request.

Processing
- Stir component A and B thoroughly before taking them out of the packaging.
- Weigh out A and B in a 1:1 ratio by weight and mix thoroughly to a homogeneous mass.
- Adjust reactivity and flow if needed with the FX additives: FX Slow extends the pot life, FX Fast shortens it, FX Thixo makes the gel paste-like and FX Softener lowers the hardness.
- Pour within the pot life of 8 to 12 minutes (23 °C).
- Demould after around 45 minutes at 23 °C.
Points to note
- ✓ This is an addition-cure (platinum) silicone. Curing can be inhibited by sulphur, nitrogen, amino compounds and metal salts. These are found in latex gloves, some plasticines, paints and adhesives, condensation-cure silicones, 1-part silicone sealant and 3D printing materials, among others. If in doubt, do a small test first.
- ✓ Only use component A and B with the same batch number. The platinum catalyst is in component A.
- ✓ Component B can release hydrogen on contact with water, alcohols, acids, metal salts, amines and alkalis.
- ✓ Store between 5 °C and 30 °C in the tightly closed original packaging. The best-before date of each batch is on the label. After that date the gel is not automatically unusable, but check its properties before you use it.

ELASTOSIL FX Gel 30 A and B are not classified as a hazardous substance or hazardous mixture under Regulation (EC) 1272/2008; GHS labelling is not required. Component B can release hydrogen on contact with water, alcohols, acids, metal salts, amines and alkalis. Follow the general rules of industrial hygiene. Wear protective nitrile gloves (not latex, which inhibits curing) and safety glasses, and ensure good ventilation.
